U3A Southern Highlands is an active group with nearly 800 members. Most of our members live in the Wingecarribee Shire including the towns of Bundanoon, Moss Vale, Robertson, Bowral and Mittagong, plus many lovely villages and residential areas in the surrounding districts.

Many of our classes are held in Bowral which is the demographic centre of the Shire but classes are held in other centres whenever practicable.

U3A Southern Highlands offers usually more than 40 courses, activities or events in each school term.

There is emphasis on learning and participation in a wide range of subjects including history, arts, crafts, music, literature, science, technology, local matters and current affairs. The scope is only limited by the experience and willingness of members to contribute.

We like to provide a social atmosphere at our gatherings. Most classes include morning or afternoon tea and other events during the year encourage members to meet and share friendships.

We also realize that U3A relies on its many volunteers to function efficiently. We help our wonderful course leaders in setting up for the course, we clean up after the course, we help with morning and afternoon tea and we do what we can to help those of us who are a little older and more frail. We help with the multitude of tasks associated with our “Special Events” and with the  job of ‘stuffing’ envelopes. We know that, without volunteers for all these jobs, U3A would soon be a thing of the past.
